SINGAPORE - Football superstar David Beckham was in town
on Saturday for a clinic at Marina Bay Sands (MBS) with Singapore athletes from
SportCares Singapore, Special Olympics and the Asean Para Games.
The former England national team captain, 39, came on invitation
through MBS' "Sands for Singapore" corporate social responsibility
programme, which has also brought in the likes of former golf world No.1 Tiger
Woods.
Beckham's visit is one of many events leading up to Sands
for Singapore Festival, slated for Aug 1-3 across the integrated resort to
raise funds for local charities.
He will provide the final signed auction item to
inaugurate the "Celebrities Give Back to Singapore" auction component
of the festival.
