Bukom Banku Stranded At Kotoka Airport

http://www.celebrities-newsblog.blogspot.com/2014/06/bukom-banku-stranded-at-kotoka-airport.html

Braimah "Bukom Banku" Kamoko has been left stranded at the Kotoka International Airport following a deadlock between the supporters and the flight attendants.

Bukom Banku, who recently routed his opponent Ayitey Powers in a ruthless bout, is reported to have complained bitterly about the sudden delay in their flight to watch the Black Stars' opening match Monday evening.

The Government of Ghana, as part of plans to motivate the national team players, arranged a flight for 500 supporters but it appears there has been a turn of events since about 400 soccer fans are said to have become stranded at the Airport.

According to Peace FM sources, the supporters were scheduled to leave the shores of Ghana over the weekend to Brazil for the 2014 FIFA World Cup; however their flight delayed and so, they were rescheduled to take off today at 6 am.

But as at 8 am, the supporters were still at the Airport and several of them reportedly are in a dilemma.

Braimah Kamoko and Ayitey Powers are among the frustrated supporters at the Kotoka Airport.

It could be recalled that the former President Jerry John Rawlings promised the two boxers ticket each to Brazil to watch the matches.

Peace FM's reporter Ama Amoakowaah Ogyampa, narrating the incident on Peace FM's 12 noon news bulletin said the boxers were booked to take off the shores today but they have joined other stranded supporters to register their displeasure with the Airport authorities.

Reggie Rockstone Blasts Critics Of World Cup Celebrity Ambassadors

Celebrated ‘grandpapa of hiplife’ Reggie Rockstone says the criticisms against the Black Stars Ambassadors are much ado about nothing.

A group of actors, actresses, movie producers, musicians and ex-sportsmen is representing Ghana at the World Cup as brand Ambassadors.

They include Shatta Wale, John Dumelo, Abedi Pele, Becca, Azumah Nelson, Jackie Appiah, Tony Yeboah, Akua Atta Kyeiwaa, Wayoosi, Kwaku Manu, Ras Niini, Fumyaa, Kwame B.A and Jones Agyeman.

The trip to Brazil is being sponsored by a consortium of corporate organisations rallied together by the Government. The announcement sparked some uproar among football fans and some politicians who did not see reason in flying the group to Brazil for the World Cup.

However Reggie Rockstone, who was a guest on Radio XYZ’s Health Walk programme on Sunday, told host Kweku Botwe that the criticisms are unnecessary.

“That’s no biggie. Come on now. I’d rather them than our politicians and their girlfriends sitting on the plane going to Brazil for holidays. These are our celebrity and they will definitely bring some type of vibe….so more power to them and let’s go and give their support and win whatever it is that we went out there to win. I have no problem with that. It smells nice,” Rockstone said.

Samini Opens A New Dancestardom Pub

Last Friday saw the grand opening of  Samini’s Dancestardom Lounge and Restaurant in Dansoman, Accra.

The centre comprises a night club, restaurant and a sitting area which overlooks a performance stage.  It also has a small practice golf court.

The Dancehall King told Graphic Showbiz at the event  his desire to run a business that would run on a daily basis is what motivated him to open his pub.

He promised that Dancestardom was not going to take him away from music since he will not be managing the day to day affairs of the place himself. He said being the owner of the pub was a totally different business from Samini Music and the High Grade Family.

Touching on the clientele for Dancestardom, Samini said “Everybody is invited to my pub. I didn’t set it up for any particular target audience, it is for everyone. If you come here, if whatever that is going on suits your standard, you are welcome to enjoy it”, he said.

According to Samini who is recognised for albums like Dankwasere, Samini and Dagaare, for now, he would be performing at Dancestardom from time to time but he would have a defined schedule later. He said that he would encourage other artistes to use his premises to perform.

“It is a business open to everybody and not just artistes. The place can be used to  shoot videos, host events such as wedding receptions, parties among others. It is a place for every function”, he said.

While at it, the multiple award winning artiste also advised his fans and underground artistes to stay focused and apply positive attitude to work. “ As individuals, we should always be on our toes and adapt new trends not necessarily following what others are doing.

“Be firm in whatever you do. Believe in your art and modify it to suit current trends”, he added.

At the event, Samini’s parents and some family members were there to support him. When Showbiz spoke to his father, Mr. Andrews Samini, he said that he has always been supportive of his son ever since he started singing in church. He said he never stopped him from what he wanted to do.

“I must admit I initially wanted him to do science back then when he was still in school but when he told me it was music he preferred, I didn’t stop him at all.

“ I motivated him and asked him to persevere and today, I am very proud of him”, he said. Some celebs who graced the occasion were musicians Chase, Ezy, Atumpan, Miss Naa of YFM and actress, Gloria Osei Safo.

RMD Reveals The Mystery Behind His New Look

Former Nollywood star Richard Mofe Damijo, has dismissed reports that he is ill.

He said that the speculations were made as a result of his drastic weight loss.

In an interview published in the Sunday Sun of Nigeria, RMD explained why he is now slimmer.

According to him, he decided to change his lifestyle and that has resulted in his current physique.

“I woke up one morning, to be precise May 9th last year, and I weighed 120kg. I said this cannot go on. Neither of my parents crossed 60kg. I thought it would be sinful for me to keep eating and putting on weight and living an unhealthy life,” he said.

According to him, he decided to change his lifestyle and not to necessarily diet, “so what I did was to get somebody who knows about food. A lot of people don’t succeed when they diet because they don’t understand food. They diet, they drink a lot of shakes, tablets and all of that and after a month they become bigger than they were.

“What I did was very simple. It’s all about knowing the kind of food you eat and what it contains. I have a daughter (Onome) from my late wife, who is obsessed with calories, weight gain and weight loss. She was with me all through Christmas and New Year. She’s 26. I love what I do now; I just eat well and exercise,” he said.

“I feel lighter, but there are lots of people who feel I am too slim now. It’s about how I feel inside. I’m at my best physically. I have never felt better. I feel lighter, I don’t suffer indigestion. Now I weigh about 97kilos.”

I Admire Iyanya—Juliet Ibrahim Reveals

Iyanya, Nigeria’s fast-rising music artiste, to some people, is not in the good books of Ghanaian actresses, who probably must have felt bad with the way he allegedly treated one of their ‘sisters’, Yvonne Nelson, who he reportedly dated and dumped later.

At the Ghana Music Awards held some weeks ago in Accra, it was reported that Yvonne Okoro initially snubbed the Nigerian singer, after he made efforts to drag her to the stage to dance with him.

As then reported, Iyanya, while performing at the event, called on his alleged former lover’s namesake to come on stage with him to probably ‘shake’ her waist, but she declined. It was said that Iyanya was later forced to meet with Yvonne Okoro on seat, called on her severally until the lady was embarrassed and forced herself to heed to the call.

However, while some Ghanaians may not like Iyanya for what he ‘did’ to Yvonne Nelson, by only interested in Yvonne Nelson’s ‘waist’, Juliet Ibrahim sees Iyanya as an admirable and talented act.

According to Juliet, while speaking in an interview on AY Show, confessed that Iyanya is one of the Nigerian artistes she admires, just like Flavour, another Nigerian music star.

Juliet stated that she likes Iyanya mostly in his R&B form, describing him as a good and talented singer.

Actors Don’t Print Money –Prince David

http://www.celebrities-newsblog.blogspot.com/2014/06/actors-dont-print-money-prince-david.html

Ghanaian actor Prince David Osei has jumped into the debate about celebrities and attire repetition, saying he sees nothing wrong with it.

According to the actor, Ghanaian stars “do not print money”, therefore it is neither wrong nor demeaning for them to wear a particular attire more than once or twice to public events.

“Yes it is right to repeat a dress; we are human like everyone else. We don’t print money,” he told NEWS-ONE when he was asked if it is right or wrong to repeat a dress.

David’s comment comes at a time when fellow actor Yvonne Okoro has been tagged “broke” because she repeated her yellow Karen Millen modern tribal dress which she wore in August 2012 at Showbiz Honours on a movie set in Nigeria.

Subsequent media reports claimed that the actress decided to repeat the dress because “she is broke.”

But Yvonne replied her critics saying, “I will repeat my dress any time I want to. I don’t owe anybody any explanation. Billionaires and millionaires all over the world can repeat dresses and its fine. Who is arresting me for doing so, the inspector dress or the FBI of clothes?”

A number of Ghanaian celebrities, including Prince David, have described the tag as unfortunate.
