Vicky Zugah Disqualified At Big Brother Auditions

Big Brother Africa offers opportunities for the very unknown to get international exposure and it offers a lifetime experience of enjoying free booze, free food and other benefits apart from sharing space with other personalities from different countries across Africa.

Regardless of your actions in the Big Brother house, your entry to fame is assured and who doesn’t want that? Surely, Ghanaian actress, Vicky Zugah wants a piece of the action too.

It therefore came as no surprise, when the actress was spotted as one of the over 200 aspiring persons who turned up at the Auditions at the Holiday Inn in Accra over the weekend for the selection of representative(s) for the 9th edition of the most watched show across Africa. Unfortunately, Vicky was disqualified and could not make it to the next stage of the auditions.

When Razz Newspaper caught up with the actress after the announcement of her disqualification, she looked upbeat and tried to conceal her disappointment. She claimed that, there’s nothing wrong with celebrities participating in Big Brother auditions.

According to her, the Big Brother Africa platform and its benefits are huge, and considering the credibility of the program, she sees no reason why any celebrity should not be involved in it.

Asked if she would try again next year, she responded: “If God gives me life next year and I’m not too busy, I will surely come back and audition.”

Speaking about her disqualification, Vicky claimed that she was told after her introduction to the panel that – she doesn’t fit in this year’s theme for the reality show.

However, the likes of Selma Mumuni, BB Bright, Leo Mensah and Vicky Zugah’s boyfriend managed to make it to the second round.

In a chat with the PRO of Multi Choice Ghana, Mr. Atu Abbassah, he said that the responses this year have been positive and looking at the class of people coming to the audition, he’s impressed.

Jessica Simpson Weds

Singer Jessica Simpson is a married woman after tying the knot in Santa Barbara, Calif.

The bride wore a custom Carolina Herrera gown as she wed former football player Eric Johnson at the San Ysidro Ranch on Saturday in front of more than 250 guests, including her sister Ashlee Simpson and her fiance Evan Ross, best friend CaCee Cobb and her actor husband Donald Faison, and pal Jessica Alba and her partner Cash Warren.

The happy couple’s 2-year-old daughter Maxwell served as a flower girl and 1-year-old son Ace was given the role of ring bearer. Ashlee’s 5-year-old son with ex-husband Pete Wentz, Bronx, also took part in the ceremony.

A statement issued to People.com by the newlyweds reads: “We are overwhelmed with complete happiness and love having made our eternal commitment.

“To say ‘I do’ in front of family, friends and, most importantly, our children has been the happiest moment of our lives.”

The nuptials took place a day after Simpson and Johnson hosted a pre-wedding barbecue at the same venue to celebrate Independence Day with all of their guests.

The couple began dating in early 2010 and became engaged on the blonde beauty’s 30th birthday in November of that year, but the pair had to postpone plans to wed twice after the 33 year old got pregnant with their kids.

Simpson was previously married to singer Nick Lachey from 2002 to 2006.

MISS GHANA SACKED!! ….Over Misbehaviour

Miss Ghana 2013, Giuseppina Nana Akua Baafi, has been sacked and her crown taken from her after what organisers described as a chain of bad behaviour.

It is not clear who takes over as the next Miss Ghana because the first and second runners-up have also stepped down and stopped working with the organisers, Exclusive Events, for some time now.

Prior to her dismissal, Nana Akua Baafi was reported to have told the organisers about two months ago she was no longer interested in occupying the position.

A letter dated Thursday July 3 this year and signed by Samuel Bokorvie, the Chief Operating Officer of Exclusive Events, ordered Nana Akua Baafi to hand over all properties belonging to Exclusive Events Ghana Limited in her possession within five (5) working days.

The letter, addressed to Nana Akua Baafi, read: “As you are aware, upon your crowning as MISS GHANA at the 2013 Beauty Pageant Contest organised by Exclusive Events Ghana Limited, the franchise holders of the MISS WORLD GHANA PAGEANT, you became the Ambassador of the MISS GHANA brand and as a result you were to be mentored and groomed for the MISS WORLD 2014 event.

“To facilitate this grooming and mentoring process, you were housed at an official residence and given a chaperone.

“In view of this elevated status as the Miss Ghana Brand Ambassador you undertook to behave and conduct yourself in a manner that would not bring the brand into disrepute and public ridicule.

“We regret however, that your conduct has not been consistent with your commitment to these values that you subscribed to, on becoming the Miss Ghana Ambassador at your crowning.”

The letter noted further: “We seemed to have been naive as we rather chose to remain optimistic of your character and role.  However, your subsequent acts seem to suggest that you were serious about your decision not to continue with your role as the Miss Ghana brand Ambassador. Management has decided to accept your decision to stand down as MISS GHANA 2013.

“Also, you are advised not to hold yourself or represent the MISS GHANA brand at any forum and please be informed that Management of Exclusive Events Ghana limited reserves to itself the rights to institute legal proceedings against you or any person holding herself out as such.”

The company is to make another announcement in the coming days on who gets to represent Ghana at this year’s Miss World event, which takes place in the UK in December.

How Davido Got Presidential Welcome In Rwanda

Young Nigerian pop music star, David ‘Davido’ Adeleke is no doubt one of the biggest artistes in the continent of Africa at the moment. Days after winning the coveted MTV Base ‘Best Artiste of the Year’ award, he was named the ‘Best African Act’ at the BET awards.

He commands top shows in the continent and he is well known in many African countries, which has raised the argument among music buffs that Davido is now the most popular artiste in the continent, with many people claiming D’Banj, Wizkid, P-Square and the likes cannot match his popularity now in Africa. Well, that is a topic for another day.

It was gathered that on July 4, 2014, President Paul Kagame of Rwanda welcomed Davido to the country, who was billed to perform at the country’s annual Liberation Day celebrations at Amahoro national stadium in Kigali.

Davido reportedly performed before about 60,000 fans as well as other East African presidents and left many asking for more.
